Oversight of Agency Services
The Northern Authority oversees the delivery of services to families by agencies. The bulk of services are delivered directly by the agencies themselves. Click here to see a listing of agency services.
Training to Agencies
The Northern Authority provides training to agencies.
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
The objective is to oversee the development of best practice standards for working with children affected by FASD. This includes transition planning out of the CFS system for those attaining the age of 18. Ongoing evaluation of FASD services and programs.
Foster Care Recruitment
The objective is to improve the availability and quality of foster care placements. Activities include:
- hosting information sessions for prospective foster parents throughout the province
- supporting the Northern Alternative Care Network
- developing Northern Foster Care orientation materials with agencies in the north
- Foster Parent training and the development of a Foster Parent Training Manuals
Foster Parent Appeals Committee
The Northern Authority plays an important role in foster parent appeals.
We encourage all foster parents to use the appeal system.
