Nick Saunders, an experienced lawyer and advocate. He was born and raised as a proud citizen of the Norway House Cree Nation, Nick's journey can be described as one marked by a profound commitment to justice, community service, and cultural empowerment.

Nick's academic journey commenced at Brandon University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree. Motivated by a passion for learning, and with the hopes of improving his First Nation, he then pursued and successfully obtained his Law degree from the University of Manitoba.

Over the years, Nick's has worked a variety of different jobs. They can be characterized as a diverse array of roles, reflecting his adaptability and commitment to making a positive impact. From navigating the unpredictable waters and long days as a commercial fisherman to serving as a case manager for Children's Special Services, Nick's early job experiences have uniquely shaped his perspective on First Nation needs and social justice.

Nick's dedication to public service was further enhanced by his role as an elected Councilor for the Norway House Cree Nation, where he played a vital role in representing the interests of his First Nation. Subsequently, he lent his legal expertise to the Manitoba Prosecution Services as a Crown Attorney, contributing to the pursuit of justice within the provincial legal system.

Currently he is serving as in-house legal counsel for the Norway House Cree Nation. Nick is able to provide a unique perspective and skill set and is able to blend his legal acumen with a deep understanding of the cultural nuances that define his First Nation.

Nick's passion for fostering positive change also extends beyond the courtroom, for many years he has actively engaged in coaching basketball, teaching not only the game but also providing valuable life skills to many youths over the years. Additionally, his love for the outdoors and his adventurous spirit find expression in his travels, both near and far, further contributing to a well-rounded perspective on life.

It was with this sense of duty and dedication to the improvement of First Nations that led him to accept a pivotal role as a Board Member of the First Nations of Northern Manitoba Child and Family Services Authority.

In this capacity, Nick is poised to leverage his legal expertise and diverse career experiences to contribute meaningfully to the enhancement of child and family services. His appointment reflects not only his professional competence but also his genuine excitement and honor at the opportunity to positively impact the lives of the First Nations of Northern Manitoba.
